Eastern skies light up with
Opening sonnets of rhapsody.
Sunbeams gleam over colored leaves in
Brilliant display of awe and wonder.
Orange, yellow, red, and green
Glow in the early streams of light
A simple chirp of a cricket.
In the distance a jay calls,
Another flies with open wings of blue and white.
Tiny fluttering insects, moths, and butterflies
Emerge from their slumber.
Flowers slowly open their petals
As the ray of the sun shines brighter.
Breathe deeply the sweetness of grass,
Vegetable gardens, corn, and hay in the fields.
Embrace the coolness and dew of these early hours.
Savor the moments, they will become memories.
Day has dawned.
The air begins to warm,
Beckoning the last hurrah of summer.
Autumn is peeking around the corner.
